Hindu kings of Kashmir, Utpala dynasty - copper dinar of Sugandha Rani (c.904-906 AD), MNC 164-166, 6.21g. Obv: stylized representation of a seated goddess; Sarada letter Shri to left and Sugandha to right. Rev: stylized king standing facing left, sacrificing over altar; Sarada letter Varma below his arm.
Good very fine, Very rare.
On the reverse of Sugandha's coin, the usual legend is Devyah. However, this coin has Varma, thereby showing that it is a mule of Sugandha's obverse coupled with the reverse of another issuer whose name ended in 'Varma'. Highly unusual as such.
