The symbol Su ad appears on a few coins dated VS 1866. This mark is a permanent feature on the coinage of the Cis-Sutlej states, and its significance was discussed in detail by Hans Herrli in his 2013 article, “The Coinage of Sirhind and Patiala at the Time of Ahmed Shah Abdali” (p. 29).
An article examining this coin was published by Shri Gurprit Singh, author of ‘Coins of the Sikhs: Sri Amritsar Jiyo’, in the Journal of the ONS, Autumn 2023/253.
