Lot No.451
AUC51
Independent Kingdoms
Auction Date: 16-04-2026
Silver
Maratha Confederacy, silver rupee, Sahrind mint, in the name of Alamgir II, AH 1172/RY 6 (date fully visible), not listed in M&W, 11.32g.
Sharp strike, Extremely fine, Very rare. A very rare example with the AH date fully visible, a feature usually off-flan on most specimens.
The minting activity at Sarhind was revived under the Marathas, as known from rare coins bearing the name of Alamgir II, dated AH 1172/RY6. So the coin bearing RY 6 and RY 7 must have been struck during the period where Sahrind was quite certainly under Maratha control.
