Shah Jahan (1628-1658 AD), silver rupee, Khambayat mint in left quadrant, 'square areas' type, AH 1069 (digit '9' retrograde/RY 32 (post-deposition issue), KM 235.16. Obv: The Kalima Shahada within square; names of four caliphs with their titles in margin with AH date. Rev: Persian legend shahjahan badshah ghazi and RY within square; ruler's title shihab ud-din muhammad sahib-e-qiran sani with mint-name in quadrants.
An attractive specimen with sharp strike, NGC MS62 (Top Pop - Highest grade), Very rare.
This coin was struck after Shahjahan was deposed at the end of his reign and after the defeat of Shah Shuja'a (whose issues precede this period) by Aurangzeb.
