Western Kshatrapas, Karddamaka dynasty - silver drachm of Damasena s/o Rudrasimha I as Mahakshatrapa (SE 144-160/ 222-238 AD), Mint B ('Rudrasihaputrasa' legend), dated SE 152 (fully visible), order of sun and crescent in dynastic emblem reversed, not listed in Fishman, 2.08g. Obv: profile bust of king facing right, Greek legend around; date behind the head. Rev: dynastic emblem in centre, Brahmi legend Rajno Mahaksatrapasa Rudrasihaputrasa Rajno Mahakshatrapasa Damasenasa around.
Sharp strike, Extremely fine, Unique so far.
The positions of the crescent and sun on either side of the arched-hill symbol in the centre are transposed on this coin. Fishman only lists this variety for mint A (Rudrasihasaputrasa) and not for mint B (Rudrasihaputrasa). This is therefore the first specimen known of this variety.
