The kingdom of Agreya or Agrodaka finds mention in ancient Indian texts like the Mahabharata. Mythology associates it with king Agrasena, who is claimed to be the progenitor of mercantile communities of North India such as the Agarwals. Coins suggest that 'Agodaka' was the main city of the 'Agacha' people's state.
