The Travancore Gold Pagoda, also known as Tulabhara Kasu, was a ceremonial presentation coin struck in the princely state of Travancore. These coins were minted specifically for the weighing-in ceremony of the Maharajah, where he would be weighed against gold, and an equivalent weight in these coins was distributed among learned Brahmins as a charitable offering. This ritual, known as Tulabhara, symbolized the king's devotion and generosity. The coins bore the legend Sri Patmanabha, referring to Lord Padmanabhaswamy, the National Deity of Travancore, emphasizing the deep religious and cultural significance of these coins in the kingdom's traditions.
