Eastern Chalukyas - uninscribed fractional coin in alloyed copper, (c.700-800 AD), 0.71g. Obv: schematic depiction of a roaring lion of 'Vishnukundin' style. Rev: Shrivatsa with two counterpointing whisks below it, within a rayed circle.
Extremely fine, Rare.
This is likely to be the smallest fraction of the 'Vishnukundin' style coinage launched by their successor dynasty the Eastern Chalukyas. The motifs are highly schematized, but recognizable from their prototypes.
