Early Medieval Maharashtra, Khandesh region, 'bull' type alloyed copper coin of Vishnukundin fabric, in the name of Ranavigraha, (c.600-700 AD), PAIC 3042, 4.27g. Obv: Decorated bull to right, late Brahmi script above reading (Shri)Ranavi with circular linear and dotted border around. Rev: A kalasha (Purna Kumbha) at center flanked by lamps on either side, rayed border around.
Extremely fine, Rare.
A host of different legends occur on this lesser studied coin series issued in the Vishnukundin fabric by local rulers of early medieval Maharashtra. One such legend is 'Shri Ranavigraha', usually abbreviated on coins.
