Maratha Confederacy, domains of the Peshwas - silver rupee and ½ rupee, in the name of Shah Alam II, Gulshanabad (Nashik) mint, Fasli years 1229 and 1234, 'flag / pennant' to left and mace on reverse, Nagari letter 'Rā' on obverse, M&W T6A, 11.01 and 5.50g. (2 coins)
Extremely fine, Rare.
The ½ rupee dated 1234 was struck during the East India Company's tenure when the mint at Nasik was kept functioning as a transitional mint, to serve the demand for coinage in Khandesh and North Maharashtra, until uniform currency was launched in 1835.
