Chalukyas of Kalyana - uninscribed and unattributed gold are haga or ½ fanam, c.10th-11th century AD, unpublished in MCSI, 0.16g. Obv: stylized representation of Peacock (Navilu) facing left in profile. Rev: stylized eight-petalled lotus.
Good Very fine, Very rare.
Chalukya inscriptions, like the Kudatini inscription of King Tribhuvanamalla, mention coins named Navilachchina Pon or Hons with 'peacock motif'. It is possible that this is a smaller fraction of the same series.
