Ancient Central Malwa - bronze ritual object popularly known as 'Ma-kār', shaped like the Buddhist 'Triratna' symbol but with a human face in its centre, (c.200-150 BC), 1.75g.
Extremely fine, Very rare.
Objects like this were most likely used in temporary propitiation rituals and then immersed into river waters when the ritual was over. They are probably the earlier mass-manufactured religious objects made of bronze/brass in ancient India.
