Ancient Malwa - post-Mauryan uninscribed die-struck copper coin of Ujjain/Maheshwar area (c.250-200 BC), not listed in PAIC, 1.79g. Obv: Bull/horse walking to right, tree-in-railing to left, small 'Ujjain' symbol above; a battle-axe standard to right. Rev: 'Ujjain' symbol.
Very fine, Very scarce.
The depiction of 'battle axe standard' is unique to this very rare type of the so-called 'Ujjain' series. This coin is counterstruck on another coin of a different type from the same series.
