AUC44
Mughals
Auction Date: 06-05-2023
Silver
Humayun (1st reign, 1530-1540 AD) - silver shahrukhi, Kabul? mint, AH (94)8, 3.87g. Obv: Shahada in scalloped circle; names of Rashidoons and their titles around. Rev: Legend Muhammad Humayun Ghazi in a scalloped cartouche; other titles and mint-name in margin.
Very fine, Very rare.
In an unusual style, the calligraphy of the legend of Humayun's name is Nastaliq on this coin. This feature is seen on coins of Kamran Mirza. This probably suggests this issue preceded Humayun's exit from Afghanistan to seek refuge with Tahmasp Safavi of Iran, after Kamran's rebellion.
