Hindu kings of Kashmir, Utpala dynasty - copper dinar of Sugandha Rani (c.904-906 AD), MNC 164-166, 5.97g. Obv: Stylized representation of a seated goddess; Sarada letter Shri to left and Sugandha to right. Rev: Stylized king standing facing left, sacrificing over altar; Sarada letter Varma below his arm.
Very fine, Rare.
On the reverse of Sugandha's coin, the usual legend is Devyah. However, this coin has Varma, thereby showing that it is a mule of Sugandha's obverse coupled with the reverse of another issuer whose name ended in 'Varma'. Highly unusual as such.
