Maratha Confederacy - silver rupee in the name of Shah Alam II, Ahmadabad mint, RY8, small Trisul symbol in middle line obverse, usual 'Ankush' mark on reverse, not listed in M&W, 11.64g.
Good Very fine, Extremely rare.
This is perhaps the rarest of the varieties struck under Maratha authority at Ahmadabad. The precise significance for addition of the Trisul mark on obverse is not known but it only occurs for coins of RY8. Probably less than five pieces are known with this variation.
