Abbasid Caliphate - temp. Al-Mahdi, AH158-169/AD775-785, silver hemidrachm of Sa'id, governor in Tabaristan, Tabaristan mint, dated in posthumous Yezdegird Era 125, Album SICA I, 411, 1.94g. Obv: Sasanian style bust, crowned and draped, to right; behind head, AFZUT GDH ('may his kingship increase' in Pahlawi); before head, Sa'id in Arabic; in outer margin, APD in Pahlawi). Rev: Fire altar set on three steps, flanked by two attendants standing facing; above star and crescent; to left, date in Pahlawi, to right, TPURSTAN ('Tabaristan') in Pahlawi.
