Taxila - uninscribed copper die-struck local coinage of post-Mauryan period, (c.200-150 BC), uniface series, 'symbolic’ type, PAIC 1437, 10.66g. Obv: Hill of six pellets and three-arched hill with crescent above a wavy line; two grapevines with bunches of grapes below. Rev: Blank.
Very fine, Scarce.
The bunches of grapes suggest a connection with the cult of the Greek god Dionysius, whose predilection for wine is a part of mythology associated with him.
