Kakatiyas of Warrangal, Prola I (1052-1076 CE), uniface gold PMC with 9 repousse punches on a broad flan, two gold gadyana denomination, 7.47g, W: 57.58 mm; H: 57.86 mm. Unpublished variety and known for the first time. Obv: 1x central punch of caparisoned Boar standing facing right, sun and moon above. 8x circumfluent punches - 4x boar, 1x Ahita gaja in kannada, 1x Kesari in kannada, 2x kannada letter Shri.
Unpublished, Extremely fine and extremely rare.
Ahitagaja Kesari is one of the common titles of the Kakatiyas adorned by many of the rulers of the dynasty starting from Prola-I. The coin fabric suggests that the coin is of period of transition between the Nolambas and the Kakatiyas. The above coin hence could be assigned to Prola-I (1052-1076 CE).
