Medieval Gujarat - unattributed copper coin (700-800 AD), 1.98g. Obv: Figure of anthropomorphic Garuda flying to right, holding snake. Rev: Trident in the centre; Kutila legend Shri Vi? De… around.
Good Very fine, Extremely rare.
It is evident from the legend that the coin was issued by a king whose name began with 'Vi' and ended in 'Deva'. It is not certain to which dynasty he belonged but it is possible that he was a Rashtrakuta feudatory, judging by the Garuda emblem.
