Santaras of Malenadu/Central Karnataka - uninscribed gold fanam, (c.1100-1200 AD), unpublished in major sources, 0.41g. Obv: jewelled lion facing right. Rev: Kalasha (vase of plenty) between an Ankusha on left and a lampstand on the right.
Extremely fine, Very rare.
The Santaras were a prominent Jaina dynasty of medieval Karnataka. Their rule extended over the Tulu-speaking regions of Karnataka coast and hills.
