Kakatiyas of Warangal, silver dramma issued in the name of 'Raya Gaja Kesari', (c.1100-1200AD), 1.67g. Obv: elephant standing facing left, traces of lion above. Rev: Nagari legend in three lines Sri Ra /…Ga ja (Ke)/(Sa Ri).
Good very fine, Very rare.
A number of Kakatiya rulers including Pratapa Rudra I, Queen Rudramma and Ganapati Deva adopted the title 'Raya Gaja Kesari'. The term 'Gaja Kesari' (lion over elephant) is alluded in a pictorial form on the obverse of this coin.
