Gulf of Khambhat (Cambay) region - copper kachcha paisa, countermarked 'GB' on a coin of Nizams of Hyderabad, struck in a private mint at Paithan, 7.98g.
Good very fine, Rare.
GB' is believed to stand for 'Gogha Bunder' or 'Government of Baroda'. The coin circulation on the Gulf of Cambay coast depended heavily on coins imported from other regions. These coins were often countermarked as they accrued new values and exchange rates when they passed from one commercial centre to another.
