Alamgir II(1754-1759 AD), silver rupee, Firozgarh mint, AH 1168/RYAhd, 11.42g.
Usual punches, Very fine+, Very rare.
An unreported variety of Firozgarh mint for Alamgir II - it has an unusual layout of obverse legend with the word 'Sikka' in the second line. Firozgarh was an alias of the fortress of Yadgir. The coin was issued in around 1754-55, when the Nizam's court was embroiled in succession disputes and Sa'id Muhammad Khan a.k.a. Salabat Jung was ruling as a weak ruler, bolstered by the Marathas.
