Archaic silverpunch-marked coin, Tapi-Wainganga Valley (North-Western borders of the ancient Vidarbha region) - ¼ (?) Karshapana, (c.400-350 BC), not listed in Rajgor, 0.96g. Obv:Four punches in ABBC configuration: 1x elephant facing left, small symbols above, 2x six-pointed star with annulets between prongs, 1x ornate Nandipada in crescent with dots and annulets. Rev:Traces of an undertype.
Very fine, Very rare.
The weight of this coin is exceptionally low and it most likely represents a quarter Karshapana denomination. This feature makes the coin very interesting.
