Qutb Shahs of Golkonda - Copper 1 cash, anonymous polygar issue in South Andhra / Northern Tamilnadu, (c.1600-1650 AD), unpublished in MCSI, 3.71g. Obv: Pseudo-Arabic inscription. Rev:Arabesque design copied from legend dividers on Qutb Shahi coins.
Very fine, Rare.
In 17 century, South Andhra / North Tamilnadu became a region contested by Adilshahi and Qutbshahi Sultanates. Many local rulers, or polygars, accepted suzerainty from either of the two. Their coin designs were copied in traditional South Indian denominational systems.
