Bharatpur - copper paisa of Ranjit Singh (1776-1805 AD), in the name of Shah Alam II, RY23, Brajendrapur mint (not visible), symbols of Umbrella (Chhatra) and a small fish on obverse, a musket/rifle and a crescent on reverse, 10.44g.
Extremely fine, Very rare.
A very rare variety of copper coinage of Bharatpur with a clear symbol of a rifle on reverse. In RY23, the Jat ruler Ranjit Singh reasserted himself for a short while against the forces of Mughalia Nawab Mirza Najaf Khan and his partisans.
