Muhammad Shah (1719-1748 AD), silver rupee, Arkat mint, RY8, with 'star' mark on reverse and 'Julus' inscribed with a lip hanging off at the right, 11.26g.
Very fine+, Very rare.
The 'Arkat' rupees in the name of Muhammad Shah were struck at many places throughout peninsular India and by many authorities, including Nawabs of Arcot, the Marathas and various European trading companies. This variety with 'star' similar to the mark of the British mint of Chinapattan is one of the rarest of these varieties.
