It is not certain who 'Kumaradasa' the issuer of the coin was, as no such name is known amongst the rulers of Vidarbha or Deccan at this point. The inscription also does not address him with any royal title. According to Manu's Dharmashastra, names ending in the suffix ‘Dasa' are characteristic of the Vaishya community. It is therefore likely that Kumaradasa might have been a powerful trader in the region whose reputation meant he could circulate small value coins in his name. It is also certain that he was a Vaishnava and followed the cult of Narasimha, which was very popular in early Vakataka period.
