Sultans of Delhi, Tughluqs, temp. Firuz Shah Tughluq (1351-1388 AD), copper/billon tanka, struck in the name of Abu Abdallah, Caliph at Cairo, undated, 8.63g. Obv: Allah in circle; Abu Abd Khulidat Khilafatahu around. Rev: Arabic legend al-Khalifah Amir al-Mumineen. Unlisted in G&G.
Very fine, Extremely rare.
This is a new type of billon coins for Firuz Shah Tughlaq. Although it is undated, Firuz is known to have struck coins in the name of Caliph al-Mutawakkil Abu Abdallah (11362-1377; 1377-1383) towards the middle of his reign.
