Rashtrakutas, unattributed silver dramma, (700-800 AD), 0.49g. Obv: Horseman riding to right. Rev: Boar facing right in centre; truncated late Brahmi legend Shri Ratta… clockwise from 9 o'clock and Raja… anticlockwise, Unpublished in major sources.
Very fine+, Extremely rare.
Although a ruler cannot be identified for this coin, its Rashtrakuta attribution is certain judging from the legend, which most likely denotes a title starting with Shri Ratta…. 'Ratta' was a Desi / Apabhramsha shortening of the dynastic name 'Rashtrakuta'.
