Ancient Deccan, Vakataka/ Traikutaka period, (300-400 AD), uninscribed lead coin, 3.81g. Obv: Ornate treskelis symbol. Rev: A lotus with a mace (Gada) emanating out of it/as its stalk, a small elephant to left and an indistinct symbol to right. Unlisted in major publications.
Extremely fine, Very rare.
This coin bear's similarity with the Aulikara issues from Western Malwa and in all likelihood was struck under the Vakatakas in around 5th century AD.
