Awadh, temp. Nawab Sa'adat Ali Khan II (1798-1814 AD), Silver Rupees (2), in the name of Shah Alam II, Ilahabad Mint, AH1215 and AH1216, both with fixed RY26, 11.23 and 11.15 gm. Symbol of fish on reverse and of a vertical sword and a solid ball in second line obverse. (2 Coins)
About Extremely Fine, Rare.
Ilahabad was transferred to the EIC in 1801 as a result of the subsidiary alliance treaty signed by the Nawab with the British. The Company resumed the minting operation in mid- 1802. The coin dated AH1216 might thus be an EIC issue.
