Rashtrakutas in Western India, Silver Dramma bearing the legend 'Gunatunga', c. 8th cent. AD, 0.47g. Obv: profile bust of king, Rev: Brahmi inscription Sri Guna Tunga.
Very Fine+, Very Rare.
These coins were earlier misattributed to Sankaragana, 6th century Kalachuri king of Mahishmati. Recent reappraisal suggests they are Rashtrakuta silver issues from North-West and North Maharashtra.
