Satavahanas - uninscribed punch-marked coin from Eran-Vidisha region, c. 75 BC, Pieper 'Animal type', nos. 20-22, p. 120, 6.75g. Obv: Five separate punches – 1. Six-armed symbol, 2. River with fishes, 3. Elephant walking to left, 4. Triangle-headed standard in railing, 5. Ujjain symbol with crescent. Rev: One punch – Ujjain symbol with crescent.
About Very Fine, Rare.
The 'Ujjain symbol with crescent' was a Satavahana dynastic emblem. It was employed on early issues in the Eran-Vidisha region after Satavahana conquest. Inscribed PMCs followed these issues.
