Gupta Empire, gold dinar of Chandra Gupta II (375-415 AD), 'Chhatra' type, Altekar Class II ('metrical legend'), var. D, 7.56g. Obv: Bare-bodied king, standing facing left with his fist on the hilt of the sword he carries, offering sacrifice at an altar. A pot-bellied dwarf attendant stands behind holding the royal parasol (Chhatra) above his head & traces of brahmi legend in exergue. Rev: Nimbate goddess Lakshmi standing three-quarters profile in a Tribhanga pose, holding a lotus in one hand and a long cloth/ribbon in the other; brahmi legend Vikramaditya to the right and tamgha to left.
