Tipu Sultan (1782-1799 AD), copper double paisa or 'Mushtari', Dar al-Saltanat Pattan mint, Mauludi year 1225, 21.69g. Obv: elephant walking to right carrying flag with tiger-stripe border enclosing Persian letter 'Be'. Rev: legend Zarb Dar al Salatanat Patan Mushtari Sanah 1225 Mawlood.
Very fine+, Rare.
The coin is struck over an earlier issue which must have been dated AM 1224 and had the flag above the elephant with letter 'Alif'. Traces of the undertype are clearly visible on both side.
