Even though the usual issues of Mahindrapur mint are attributed to the Jat kings of Bharatpur State, the 'umbrella' mark on the obverse of this coin indicates that it is an imperial issue, not a Jat one. The coin is in all likelihood struck around July 1783 (the AH date on the coin corresponds to early December 1782 to late October 1783) when the imperial household camped at Deeg, under the command of Afrasiyab Khan, the Mughalia baron of the court. It was here that Afrasiyab murdered his close rival Mirza Shafi in September 1783.
