Celtic Britain, Iceni tribe, silver unit, 'Boudicca' issue (65-60 BC), BMC 355, 0.98g. Obv: Stylized head right, two trefoils in front, wreath behind. Rev: Horse galloping to right, triangular shape within pelleted arc above, lozenge-shaped box below.
Very fine, Rare.
The suggestion that this was an issue of the famous British Celtic Queen Boudicca rests on identifying the obverse as derived from the head of Juno Sospita as on the Roman Republican issue of L. Rocius Fabatus dated to 58 BC. However, this has been disputed.
