The obverse of the coin closely imitates the Arkat rupees of Alamgir II which were a popular circulating coinage in the Deccan. The layout of the reverse legend is curious –the word 'Manoos' appears to be split between the central and the top lines. But if the word following 'Julus’ is considered to be a part of the mint-name beginning with 'Ma', the mint which would best fit it would be 'Malkhed'. It is known from archival sources that a mint was functioning in Malkhed producing 'Chulnee' coins in the late 18th and early 19th century, but no coins have yet been attributed to it.
