Kashmir, copper coin of Kidarite series attributed to Hunnic king 'Mehama', (400-500 AD), 4.17g. Obv: king standing frontally, wearing a 'bird' crown with laddered diadem ties flowing behind the head; traces of Brahmi legend Devapu(tra) to left. Rev: enthroned goddess, holding cornucopia and wearing flowing dress; Brahmi letter Bhu / Ru to right.
Very fine, Veryrare.
Joe Cribb and Karan Singh brought to light this important coin-type in JONS 230. The coin offered here is of the same variety as illustrated by coin 2.3 in their paper.
