Jahangir (1605-1628 AD), silver rupee, struck to 20% overweight 'Jahangiri' standard, 'Kalima' type, Patna mint, AH 1015/RY 2. Obv: full name of the king and RY. Rev: the Kalima, mint-name and AH date at the bottom.
Very fine+, Extremely rare.
Patna is a very rare mint for the Kalima-type 'Jahangiri' rupees. The British Museum has a specimen with the same date/RY combination, but with the AH date engraved above the mint-name (listed in BMC no. 413). Another piece is in the Lucknow Museum (LMC 1371), dated AH1016/RY3. This is probably the only specimen in private hands.
