Archaic silver punch-marked coin from Gujarat/Kathiawad region, attributed to 'Surashtra Janapada' (c.350-250 BC), ¼ Karshapana, not listed in Rajgor, 0.69g. Obv: architectural structure, probably a Stupa, enclosed within a railing. Rev: traces of an undertype.
Very fine, Rare.
Coins depicting architectural motifs are extremely rare in the archaic punch-marked series. Here the symbol appears to represent the 'dome’of a Stupa within a railing, seen in planar perspective.
