Vishamasiddhi' was a title adopted by Vishnuvardhana, who was appointed as the governor of Vengi by his brother the Chalukya emperor Satyashraya Pulakesi. The coin is interesting for two reasons - firstly, it is a small fraction, hitherto unreported, and secondly, it depicts the lion in a typical 'Pallava' fashion and the style of letters in the legend is also close to Pallava style. The Pallavas and the Chalukyas were enemies of each other.

After defeating the Chola, Vishwanatha Nayaka installed the Pandya king on the throne and began his own rule as a viceroy. This coin must have been struck around this time. After the fall of Vijayanagar Empire, Vishwanatha Nayaka became independent and initiated the house of the Madurai Nayakas.
