About Extremely Fine, Extremely Rare.
Coins in the name of Azam Shah were struck for a brief period when he assumed the kingship on 14th March 1707 at Ahmadnagar, ten days after the demise of his father Aurangzeb. As he had been active in the provinces of Berar, Gujarat and Malwa immediately before this event, most mints striking coins in his name are located in these regions. His coinage ended with his defeat and death at the hands of his stepbrother Muazzam at the battle of Jajau on 8th June 1707.
