Post-Mauryan Vidarbha / Marathwada region, inscribed die -struck coin of (Va?)sasami, (200-150 BC), 1.29g. Obv: Bull walking to right, tree-in-railing in its front; Shrivatsa, 'Ujjain' symbol and a Treskelis above. Rev: Brahmi legend (Va?)sa / sami in two lines, 'Ujjain' symbol to its right.
Very Fine, Very Rare.
The name of the ruler who struck this coin is tentatively restored as 'Vasasami' (Vasuswami). He appears to be one of the post-Mauryan independent rulers in this region which only recently have come to light.
