South Coromandel Coast, two Gold Fanams, copying designs of Sri Ranga Raya III (1642-1672 AD), 'Tuticorin' variety with globular reverse, bearing 'Kali' emblem on obverse, flanked by a trident on left (0.36g) and on right (0.38g). (2 Coins)
Very Fine+, Rare.
Much like the 'Porto Novo' pagodas, Fanams of this type were struck by a number of authorities. Those with the trident mark are possibly issues of the Marathas of Tanjore.
