Coins of this type bear a reverse legend which contains not more than a date formula, often including the name of a month. The year is possibly reckoned in VS and appears to be 1485 on most coins. It is plausible that they were struck in Eastern Rajasthan / Malwa area, around the time when the Sultanate of Delhi was troubled with Mongol invasions and their aftermath. Many independent Rajput states rose in this period - Chanderi, Mewar, Gwalior, Ranathambhor to name a few.
