Silver
Alwar, Bakhtawar Singh (1791-1815 AD), Silver Rupee, 11.21g, Rajgarh Mint, in the name of Muhammad Akbar II, RY 5, 11.21g.
Very Fine, Rare.
This rupee differs from other rupees of Rajgarh Mint in the name of Muhammad Akbar II in a number of ways - 1. In the reverse legend, the words 'Manoos' and 'Julus' are transposed; 'Julus' is in top line and 'Manoos' in the centre. 2. The RY is inscribed in the middle of the word 'Manoos'. 3. The symbol of 'sprig' or Jhar is placed below the 'B' of 'Zarb'. This variety of Alwar rupees is unlisted in KM, but illustrated in William Webb's book 'Currencies of Rajputana' (Pl. X, no. 1). It is likely that these rupees were struck not at Rajgarh (Alwar) but at a subsidiary mint, possibly located in Shekhawati.
