Maratha Confederacy, Silver 'Ankushi' Rupee, struck in the name of 'Shah Ali Gauhar', the pre-accession name of Shah Alam II, Pune Mint, with Fasli date 1229 added in Arabic numerals above the 'Ankush' symbol on reverse, M&W T4a, 11.13g.
Very Fine+, Scarce.
Although Maheshwari & Wiggins list coins of this type as of Pune mint, find-spot evidence suggests they might have been struck somewhere in Ahmednagar district. Bhatodi, where there was a mint producing 'Ankushi' rupees, is a likely candidate.
